Egads! Fascinating new development!

Long ago in a far away month there was a boy so fine I simply called him Hot Guy. Really I just hadn’t discovered that coming up with creative and descriptive names for my men kept my friends from struggling to compute my stories about “so-and-so” and “the other guy”.

Back in the month(s) of Hot Guy there was a lot of excitement and heart pounding and yadda yadda, standard conclusion: he was totally batshit crazy. This kid would freak out at the drop of a hat and start screaming. Sometimes it was at me, other times it was at inanimate objects, but it was always scary and severely uncool. Fortunately there is a silver lining. (I like to believe there always is.) Hot Guy had a Hot Brother.

Hot Brother was not only cute, but older, more sane, and very sweet. We really got along really well the first time we met and I’m about 65% sure he was into me. Then once when I was hanging out with The Brothers Hot I had a terrible headache. Hot Guy got me some Advil and vanished while talking on the phone. This is when Hot Brother offered to make me some tea. I said ohh no no I’m fine, but after half an hour it was clear I was not fine, so he insisted and made me tea. This is also when roommate of the Hot Brothers handed me a bowl of chocolate candy and said “maybe this will help?” I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. It was like a small piece of heaven. However, I knew it wasn’t heaven because A. I was watching football, which I do enjoy but don’t understand, and B. Nobody was professing their love to me, so it was really just a big tease.

There were two problems however. First of all Hot Brother appeared to be single (thank you Facebook), but upon a closer inspection he had some mess of an off and on relationship with a girl who spent the night once when I was visiting. Secondly, there wasn’t any way to get at him. If I was with Hot Guy I couldn’t really work my magic, and asking him to hang out would be…inappropriately dateish. I threw in the towel.

Cut to today.

I started at a new job recently. It is very cool and I’m delighted with it. It’s in a pretty small building and there aren’t many other people around. So what happened today you’re thinking? Oh, God intervened, that is what happened. Hot Brother just happens to be intelligent on top of all of that other deliciousness. He started his own little business and moved into an office about 15 feet down the hall from mine. TOTAL brilliance.
